I am Najeeb Farzad and I have been an Author, Novelist, Storyteller, Journalist, Photojournalist, Human Right Advocate and Cultural Practitioner in Afghanistan since 2007. I have been the founder & former director of Asia Culture House (Asia Culture & Art Organization) which is a non-profit organization in Kabul, Afghanistan. I started this career as a photojournalist and blogger in Afghanistan in 2007 and started working with the United Nations in 2009 and I was one of the ATSA fellows at 2018 with others from south Asia in Delhi, India
Over more than a decade, I organized and implemented many advocacy projects and campaigns mostly for the United Nations regarding human and women rights in Afghanistan. In addition to these, I implemented up to 55 artistic exhibitions that portray the suffering of Afghans and at least 100 cultural events.
I have written articles, news reports, short stories, poems and novels in the past one decade. Many articles and news reports were published in many magazines and local newspapers. Including of the articles, I have published some short and long stories and poems. My most recent novel is “Ghowghay Eshq”, a 256 page long Persian love story that is published by Asia Culture House. The novel vividly describes stories of love, longing and extra-marital affairs in a rural Afghanistan. I am currently working on another similar novel.
I have participated in many seminars, conferences, fellowships as participants and as well as presenter. Public speaking and presenting the different issues/subjects was another of my activities in the region. I have an archive of photographs from daily life, photojournalism, landscape and nature and some of my photographs have been displayed in many exhibitions in Afghanistan, Europe and in the US. I was nominated as one of the top ten photographers in the 3rd Eye Photo Awards in Afghanistan.
Recently, I managed and implemented the “UN75 Survey and Dialogue” in Afghanistan focusing on human rights, rights to education and environmental protection, “16 Days of Activism” to raise awareness about violence against women, peace campaign, and a local dance project that aimed to identify vulnerable local dances in Afghanistan and a documentary of Afghanistan’s local dances.
